The Society shall be known as Antrim &amp; District Amateur Radio Society<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. The aims of the Society shall be to further the interests of its members<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>in all aspects of amateur radio and directly associated activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Membership shall be open, subject to proposal from an existing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>member and the discretion of the Committee, to all persons interested in the aims of<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a) Full Members. Full members must be 18 years of age or over or must hold<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the permission of any competent authority to install and operate an amateur<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>radio station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b) Student Members. Student members must be under 25 years of age and in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>full time formal education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c) Guests. Members may invite guests to meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All members shall abide by the Constitution of the Society. The Committee shall<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>have the power to expel any member whose conduct, in the opinion of at least 50%<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>plus one of the full Committee, renders that person unfit to be a member of the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Society. No member shall be expelled without first having been given the opportunity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>to appear before the Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. <strong>Subscriptions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a) The annual subscriptions shall be set by the Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b) All subscriptions shall be due and payable at the beginning of the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>financial year. Members in arrears have no voting rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c) The financial year shall run from 1st January to 31st December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>d) A member shall have deemed to have resigned from the Society, if by<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>31st March the subscription has not been paid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>e) The Committee shall have power to waive or reduce subscriptions in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>special circumstances for a period not exceeding 1 year at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Finance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All money received by the Society shall be promptly deposited in the Society\u2019s<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>bank account. Withdrawals require the signature of the Society\u2019s Treasurer<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and one other nominated officer of the Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. <strong>Membership of the Society\u2019s Committee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Society\u2019s affairs shall be administered by a Committee elected at the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Annual General Meeting. The Committee, in whom the Society\u2019s property<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>shall be vested, shall consist of:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a) A Chairman who will preside at all meetings at which he is present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b) A Secretary who will be responsible for:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>i.Keeping the minutes of all meetings of the Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ii.Ensuring that all correspondence is properly handled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>iii.Maintaining a master roll of members and Honorary Members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>iv.Maintaining a register of the Society\u2019s equipment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c) A Treasurer, who will be responsible for:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>i.Keeping the Society\u2019s accounts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ii.Advising the Committee on all financial matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>iii.Preparing the accounts and presenting them at the A.G.M.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>d) Not more than 2 co-opted members who have full voting powers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>e) In the absence of the Chairman a Vice-Chairman shall be deputised for the duration of the meeting by a vote taken by members present at the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. <strong>Committee Standing Orders<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The quorum for the Committee shall be 3. In the absence of a quorum,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>business may be dealt with but any decision taken only becomes valid after<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ratification at the next meeting at which a quorum exists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Committee meetings may be called by the Chairman, or the Secretary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. <strong>Annual General Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a) The Annual General Meeting shall normally be held on the first club night in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>January of each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b) The quorum for the meeting shall be 40% of the total paid up membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c) The Agenda for the meeting shall be<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>i. Apologies for absence<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ii. Minutes of the previous A.G.M.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>iii. Chairman\u2019s Report<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>iv. Secretary\u2019s Report<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>v. Treasurer\u2019s Report<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>vi. Election of the new Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>vii. Other Business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Items (i) to (v) shall be chaired by the outgoing Chairman, item (vi) by an acting<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chairman who is not standing for election to office, and the remaining business by<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the newly elected Chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominations for Committee members will only be valid if confirmed by the nominee<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>at the meeting or previously in writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Items to be raised by members under other business must be notified to the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Secretary not less than 7 days before the A.G.M<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. <strong>Extraordinary General Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Extraordinary General Meetings may be called by the Committee, or not less<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>than 10 members of the Society, the date of the meeting being the earliest<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>convenient as decided by the Committee. At least 28 days notice in writing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>must be given to the Secretary, who in turn shall give members 14 days<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>notice in writing of the Agenda. No other business may be transacted at the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>E.G.M. The quorum for the E.G.M. shall be at least 50% of the total paid in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10.<strong> Amendments to the Constitution.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The constitution may be amended after 14 days notice has been given prior<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>to a properly constituted AGM, or by an additional EGM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11. Winding up of the Society<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decision to wind up the Society may be taken only at an E.G.M.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The funds of the Society shall, after the sale of all assets and the payment of<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>all outstanding debts, be disposed of as directed by members at the final<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>E.G.M<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Antrim and District Amateur Radio Society MI0GFE CONSTITUTION 1.
